After our Ode to Fall Weather yesterday, we have to say we still weren't happy with the weatherman last night was talking about the first snow of the season possibly coming quite soon. We got jipped on the start of Fall, so we think it ought to last a little while longer before we get into the full swing of winter.
In other news, it's election day. So those of you who are eligible should go vote. It's one of those off-off-year elections so you get to vote for exciting things like Dog Catcher and Alderman (what is an alderman anyway?). People tend to dismiss the local elections and only get excited when it's a Presidential year. But you know, the local officials can actually have a lot more effect on your daily life. Also, the lines aren't as long.
Of course the problem is that since no one really gets excited about local politics it's kind of hard to find out where the candidates actually stand on certain issues. For the most part you just get the mailings that show some guy with his wife and 2.5 children, grinning at you and looking like every other politician, followed by a caption that basically boils down to "Vote for me. I have a family and care about stuff. The other guy may say he has a family, but really he goes around spitting on puppies. So don't vote for him. Vote for me."
Are we becoming cynical in our old age? Oh well. We can't vote anyway. We told Jennifer that she ought to find out where the candidates stand on feline suffrage, but she just gave us a funny look and left the house.
