We're so happy that it's finally Fall. We thought this summer was never going to end. But then one day Jennifer came home from work and told us that they had finally gotten around to replacing the air-conditioner in her office. The old one had been completely non-operational since August. She said she was quite sure that now that the a/c was working the weather would cool off. And sure enough, it did.
Our favorite thing about the cooler weather is that now there are a lot more places we can comfortably lie down. In the summer, we have to spend a lot of time on the tile floor in either the kitchen or the bathroom to try to keep from overheating. But once the heat goes away we can curl up just about anywhere. And since Jennifer doesn't like cleaning cat hair off all the furniture she has covered pretty much everything with blankets. If we're really lucky the blankets get bunched up and we can burrow in and be all cute and snuggly.
The one downside is that now we have an added job around the house. Anytime Jennifer gets up from sitting somewhere one of us has to immediately get in there and keep her seat warm. She thinks we're trying to steal her spot, but really, we're just looking out for her comfort. Sometimes the seat isn't quite warm enough when she's trying to sit in it and we refuse to get up. But then she tries to sit on top of us. And then we have to explain to her that while it's okay for us to sit on her, the other way around is no good. She says she doesn't mind when we sit on her lap or whatever, except when she's trying to do something and we're getting in the way. We think this is entirely unreasonable. First place, we're only trying to make sure she's warm enough. And second place, she really should learn how to work around us. How hard is it to read a book when there's a cat on top of it? She did say it was okay to sit there when she was crocheting, as long as we don't play with the yarn. And that's really not fair. If she doesn't want us to play with it, she should keep it hidden away.
