As Jennifer was driving down the GW Parkway last weekend on the way to her mother's, she drove past a sign that read (we swear we're not making this up): "Unsafe Driving Campaign--Increased Enforcement."
Wow, that's a new one. With all the TV ads for the "Click it or Ticket" seatbelt campaign, we think they ought to take some time to inform the public more about what is expected of them under the Unsafe Driving Campaign. Is it just unsafe driving, or is there an expectation of results? If you drive unsafely, but avoid any problems, is that worth less than if you manage to crash into something? Or perhaps it's worth more. After all, it probably takes more skill to drive unsafely, yet avoid any consequences. Maybe that's the point of the campaign. They've decided there's nothing they can do to get people to stop driving unsafely, so for the protection of others there is an increased enforcement of unsafe driving w/o damage to yourself or others.
Paris Hilton would probably like that. Wasn't that one of her arguments about why she shouldn't be punished for DUI? That she hadn't hurt anyone.
Maybe the goal is to get other people to crash. That's how the video game
would work, anyway.
