what's the cage for?
Jennifer warned us several weeks ago that we were due for our annual pilgrimage to the v-e-t. She told us the date and time and everything, but since we can't read a calendar we weren't sure exactly when it was coming. She also mentioned something about having to take vacation time to go on this trip. She said she tried to explain that we are her dependents and taking us to the doctor should be covered under "family sick leave," but her boss wasn't buying it.
We panicked a little bit last night b/c Jennifer cleaned out our litter box and told us that we both need to provide "samples" for the doctor. Then she dragged the cage things out of storage, planted them in the middle of the floor and opened their doors. We know what those cages mean: car trip. Since Shelby hates riding in the car (well, technically he hates the vomiting that results from riding in the car), he took one look at that cage and ran away to hide. Thalia doesn't mind the car ride so much, and she used to be pretty well behaved at the vet's office. But ever since Shelby came into her life, Thalia has been a far less trusting feline. So, she ran away too.
After a few hours when Jennifer hadn't come to capture us, we ventured out from under our respective pieces of furniture. We very carefully sniffed around the cages, being careful to keep our distance. Shelby even did some scary posturing to try to get the cages to run away, but no luck. Eventually we decided that Jennifer had realized the error of her ways and was not going to torment us with car rides and v-e-t visits. She even left for work this morning with no further mention of the cages. Thalia is still suspicious though. She thinks Jennifer might be trying to lull them into a false sense of security....
Jennifer did mention something when she left this morning about how if we had anything we wanted to do today we should take care of it early b/c tonight we might be all tired from the shots....wait a minute.... What's this about shots? Uh-oh.....
